Performing Arts

 

Greetings and salutations to all musicians, actors, bards, jugglers, and others within the Performing Arts:  At the Sable & Gules Theater area, we offer the opportunity for anyone interested in presenting performances and providing classes in the Performing Arts.

 

For those persons and groups wishing to schedule stage time for their performances, we need the following information:

  • Name (Group’s Name or Individual’s Persona Name)
  • Day of the Week being requested
  • Start Time being requested
  • Ending Time
  • Title/Type of Performance (Bardic, Drama, Comedy, etc.) Please provide title if a play is being performed.

We are still looking to fill our class schedule.  Anyone wishing to teach classes pertaining to the Performing Arts please provide information either at this site* (this will open in a new window) or email me the following information:

European Dance

Once again, classes for European Dance will be made available to any and all who wish to learn European Dance, then come test your new moves at the nightly Balls sponsored by several different Kingdoms!  Your Class Coordinator will be Banbharun Alina nic an Bhaird and if you have any questions, please contact her via email.

We are proud to announce that we will be conducting the 5th Annual Gulf Wars War Bard Competition on Wednesday evening at 6 pm. Come prepared to represent your Kingdom. This year’s theme is "My Enemy, My Friend!"  There is a 5 minute time limit for all performances be they story, song, poetry, play, or smack talk. Documentation is not required. Sign up will at the Sable & Gules Theater. You must sign up no later than 1 hour prior to the start of performances. There will be a prize for the Kingdom represented by the most performances.

 

On Friday, between noon and 2 pm, the Bards of the Horn and Harp will be sponsoring the 5th Annual Youth Bardic Competition and Talent Show. Sign up will be from the start of the war until noon on Friday. All youths age 3 to 11 are encouraged to come and share their talents, sing, dance, storytelling, and play an instrument with fun to be had by all. The contest is limited to 50 entrants. All entrants must be accompanied by an adult representative with them for the duration of the show.

 

Musicians

 

Note for musicians wishing to participate and play for dancers during the Gulf War Balls:
The following criteria will be necessary to participate in the dance musicians pit during the evening Gulf Wars:

1.) You must be able to have some entry level sightreading skill using standard musical notation. This includes percussionist as well.
2.) You must perform on acoustical instruments (this includes modern acoustical instruments)
3.) We will be using a standard pitch of A=440
4.) We will be using the following book for most of the dances.
